What is meant by a No Wrong Door service system
A No Wrong Door service formally recognizes that individuals with a dual diagnosis may enter a range of community service sites; that they are a high priority for engagement and that proactive efforts are necessary to welcome them into treatment. Each individual needing treatment will be identified and assessed and will receive treatment, either directly or through appropriate referral, no matter where he or she enters the realm of services. (Croton G, 2006,; CSAT 2000a)
What does this Website provide?
The No Wrong Door website has various functions, with its primary focus to enable workforce capacity to better identify, assess, respond and treat people with dual diagnosis presentations.
The website provides a platform to host regional policy, procedures, protocols, pathways, committees and educational opportunites for the member agencies.
In addition, this website is designed to host a discrete area for Consumer and Carer representatives to better support them in their roles with their employers.
The services pathways tool enables health professionals to refer clients to appropriate and relevant agencies in a timely fashion.
This initiative was funded by the Department of Health & Ageing, Improved Services for people with drug & alcohol problems and mental illness initiative – capacity building grants. 2008-2010.
